Rivo Integration

Churn Buster is a revenue recovery and retention layer for subscription and membership brands. Connected to Rivo, it recovers failed membership payments with automated email campaigns, and can run branded cancel flows that present save offers when a member goes to cancel.

How it works

Rivo sends Churn Buster three membership webhooks: payment_failure, payment_success, and canceled. When a membership payment fails, Churn Buster opens a recovery campaign for that member and sends a timed sequence of emails (and optional SMS) alongside Rivo's retry attempts. When a payment succeeds, the campaign closes automatically. If every retry fails, Churn Buster cancels the membership at the end of the campaign.

After accepting the invitation to your new account, connect to Rivo here.

Then adjust two settings in Rivo:

• Retry schedule. Under Memberships → Failed Payments Retry Schedule, set 7 retries. Rivo's fields count days after the last attempt, so enter 1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5.
• Payment Failure email. Under Memberships → Email, turn it off.

• Members update their card in your Rivo membership account page.
• Churn Buster covers your Rivo memberships. Loyalty, points, and VIP tiers keep running as-is.
• Message Churn Buster to enable Cancel Flows. Bundle pricing is available, and includes basic setup at no additional cost.

Tracking performance

Your Rivo dashboard and Churn Buster will show different numbers, and that's expected since we measure things differently. Rivo's First Attempt Success Rate, for example, reports how many charges clear before any recovery work, not how many failed payments come back. Churn Buster waits for every campaign to resolve and reports recovery on rolling windows of completed campaigns.

FAQ

Why turn off Rivo's Payment Failure email?

Rivo sends the same template on each failed attempt. Turning it off means members get one coordinated recovery sequence instead of two overlapping sets of emails.

Will Churn Buster cancel members while payments are failing?

Not mid-campaign. Rivo works through its full retry schedule first. If every retry fails, Churn Buster cancels the membership at the end of the campaign, and benefits run through the end of the billing period.

Why do my first few weeks of numbers look low?

Campaigns take weeks to resolve, and Churn Buster counts a campaign only once it completes. Early cohorts read low and settle as full campaign cycles finish.
