Seal Subscriptions Integration

Churn Buster is a revenue recovery and retention layer for subscription and membership brands. Connected to Seal Subscriptions, it recovers failed subscription payments with automated email campaigns, and can run branded cancel flows that present save offers when a customer goes to cancel.

How it works

Seal sends Churn Buster its subscription and billing events. When a payment fails, Churn Buster opens a recovery campaign for that customer and sends a timed sequence of emails (and optional SMS) alongside Seal's retry attempts. When a payment succeeds, the campaign closes automatically. If every retry fails, Churn Buster can cancel the subscription at the end of the campaign.

We configure the Churn Buster side with you, and walk you through two Seal settings to change so customers get one coordinated recovery sequence: turning off Seal's failed payment email, and turning off its automatic cancellation so every customer gets the full recovery window.

Tracking performance

Your Seal dashboard and Churn Buster will show different numbers, and that's expected since we measure things differently. Churn Buster waits for every campaign to resolve and reports recovery on rolling windows of completed campaigns.

FAQ

Do I still need Seal's retries, or does Churn Buster run them?

Seal runs the retries on its schedule. Churn Buster coordinates its messaging with that timing, so a customer whose retry succeeds stops getting emails and a customer whose retry fails hears from you at the right moment.

A customer updated their card, but the payment didn't go through. Why?

Seal charges the updated card on its next scheduled retry, not the moment it's updated. Churn Buster's recovery emails set that expectation, so customers know the charge runs on schedule.

Why turn off Seal's failed payment email?

So every customer runs through one coordinated Churn Buster sequence: timed recovery messages across the full window, tuned and measured as a single campaign. We set that up with you so there's no overlap.

Will Churn Buster cancel subscriptions while payments are failing?

Not mid-campaign. Seal works through its retry schedule first, and we turn off Seal's automatic cancellation so every customer gets the full window. If every retry fails, Churn Buster can cancel the subscription at the end of the campaign, which we configure with you.
